Hello sisters!!!! We have brought back our Sister Lift, “Sister Spotlight” where we highlight a sister from the Sister Lift group. Our newest spotlight for January is A Kay Venn. Here are a few things Angela would like for us to know about her.
1. What's one thing that you're proud of that you'd like your sisters to know about you?
I enjoy volunteering and even when I am working or not I will serve. My favorite is the Atlanta Food Bank. I would walk the 4.3 miles one way just to make my shift. I'm extremely passionate about feeding those who can’t feed themselves. The sacrifices of a good time with friends just to help someone else take care of their kids' lunch meals is another thing. I made over 100 hours this past year and it was my first time ever!
2. Tell us one unique thing about yourself.
I love outdoor activities and tying knots. My parents were both military and I really enjoyed Girl Scouts as well. There's something about knowing how to survive not just in a corporate jungle but in a real one that always intrigued me. Therefore, I made a point to learn different things like forging, tracking animals for safety reasons, etc.
3. What are a few things that make you happy?
An amazing sunrise makes me happy. It doesn't matter if there are clouds or no clouds, when the sun comes up over the horizon it's never the same. I am always amazed by the brilliance of a rising sun, the colors, and the warmth on my face as I close my eyes and face it. I look up sunrise times especially when I want that quiet time with God in the morning.
Crafting is another thing that makes me happy. Being able to decorate a tablescape or a poster board, I'm equally excited about both. I could craft all day if time would allow.
4. I want other women to know that....... you are not damaged goods. You are a work of art. I have seen many paintings start off looking one way and end up a masterpiece. The only way to do it is you have to give God the paintbrush. Let Him design your life and you be obedient to it. He loves you and He desires a relationship, so don't be afraid to go to Him no matter the situation. It's never too late to become all He created you to be. Just be the canvas that He needs to share to gospel. Also don't be afraid to share your testimony, in the midst of the storm, you don't have to wait until the victory, you already know it's coming. Lastly, always remember that God's pruning and correction are good news too!
5. What are a few of your favorite things?
Photo albums and picture frames. I enjoy printing out photos making sure the album is full of themes and important events.
I absolutely adore a good mold. Ice molds, chocolate molds, etc. My heart jumps for a good mold collection. It's not so much for the drinks, I just enjoy a clear ball with fruit in it, or a chocolate mold with caramel inside. I'm always fascinated by how they look. The ice ones can be so beautiful, like an edible marble.
